About Terry Smith, MA, RSW

Terry Smith is a Registered Social Worker with a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from York University in Toronto. He is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OASWSSW) and has over 30 years of experience. Terry has extensive experience helping couples, individuals and families resolve troubling circumstances. He has worked with people struggling with depression, anxiety, infidelity, parent- teen conflicts, assault and abuse, separation and divorce, trauma, post-traumatic stress, self-esteem issues, and has done crisis counselling helping individuals with work related stress and violence. Terry has experience with Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Client Centred Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.


Terry is committed to empowering people to overcome difficult situations that they need help with. It is in Terry's experience that people often just need the right direction and support to get past their current challenges which is what counselling can give them. Terry has empathy and respect for what people go through, as Terry has overcome some very serious personal challenges in his 20's. Terry has watched people become who they want to become by taking responsibility for their current situation and doing something about it. Terry believes in people and what they can do once they have a sense of empowerment over their current situation.
